R134A is a non-ozone-depleting HFC refrigerant long used in mobile air conditioning and a range of refrigeration applications. It was originally developed as a replacement for R12 and became the global automotive OEM standard refrigerant for many vehicle air-conditioning systems. Because of its broad use in existing equipment, R134A continues to play an important role in service, repair, and maintenance where systems are specifically designed for or approved for R134A.
